hmm, i know i've seen them around cheap, but i can't remember where ... 
look for someplace that might sell food in bulk, since its bound to be cheaper
per unit at least (if you can find a place that has a big ol barrel of them
and lets you fill up your own bags you'll also save a lot)

you can also soak them in water to plump them back up a little so its not
so much like eating beef jerkey :) ... but as my mom found out you can't 
marinade them in anything oilbased until you've reconstituted them some, the
oil can't soak into the fully dried ones
