Through many research and educational partnerships, SCS faculty exercise daily leadership in the fields of information technology, networking, cybersecurity and robotics. They work closely with non-profit agencies and industry clients to develop and mature technologies from concept through delivery to end-users.
SCS’s diverse interdisciplinary research also extends into areas not traditionally considered part of computer science. At the Quality of Life Technology Center, researchers develop technologies to allow the elderly, disabled and wounded veterans to live independently. The Pittsburgh Science of Learning Center is developing radical new models of teaching mathematics and language skills.
